The Varsity Girls Basketball Team opened up their preseason with the “Gary Houston Winter Classic” hosted by South El Monte High School. They were victorious against South East High School, Nogales High School, but fell to Ontario High School. In an attempt to regroup and refocus on their strengths, they performed a dominating game against Workman High School, and finished the tournament with a very impressive win against George Washington Prep. “Our team is doing a great job of making adjustments and being aggressive on defense. We had solid play by Kimberly Reynaga, key shots from Vanessa Aguiar and Alisia Trejo, and great rebounding from our whole team. The coaching staff is very proud of our team and of our efforts thus far.” Kimberly Reynaga was selected as All-Tournament by the tournament committee. The Varsity Girls Basketball team hopes to improve their 4-1 record while they travel to Nogales High School on Tuesday for a pre-season game, and El Monte High School on Friday to finish off the week.
