Martin Esparza went 3-3 at the plate, sparking Montebello Oilers Varsity to a 6-1 victory in seven innings over Mark Keppel on Tuesday.

He singled in the second inning and doubled in the fourth and sixth innings.

Christian Beltran picked up the win for Montebello Oilers Varsity. Christian Beltran pitched seven innings and allowed no earned runs, seven hits and three walks while striking out five.

Montebello Oilers Varsity stayed on top until the final out after taking the lead in the first, scoring one run on.

Montebello Oilers Varsity piled on two more runs in the bottom of the second. The inning looked promising, as Daniel Pena tripled, scoring Edgar Velasquez to kick things off. That was followed up by Esparza’s single, bringing home Pena.

The third inning saw Mark Keppel score its only run on the day on an RBI single by PlayerI.

Montebello Oilers Varsity built upon its lead with three runs in the fourth. Esparza kicked things off with a double, plating Velasquez and Pena. That was followed up by Christian Covarrubias‘s single, scoring Esparza.IMG_0574
